Asheville, NC Mountain Property for Sale-Architecture

One of the most important features of Flat Rock is its profound sense of place.  Flat Rock’s residents have created a community that respects the importance of preserving the past for the benefit of future generations.  During it’s early history, Flat Rock’s residents took great care in constructing homes with sense of permanence and eye to the future.  This storied past is not lost on today’s residents of Flat Rock.  Some thirty years ago, forward thinking residents founded Historic Flat Rock, a non-profit preservation organization dedicated to protection and preservation of the Village’s most important properties and architectural heritage.  Because of these members’ hard work, Flat Rock is now home to one of the nation’s largest National Register Historic Districts.  I am aware of nowhere else in the Mountains of Western North Carolina that holds the keys to so many architectural treasures as Flat Rock.

In a town with as much architectural heritage and history as Flat Rock, great care was taken in crafting our architectural guidelines.  We understand that we our creating a community that will be contributing to Flat Rock’s sense of place for generations to come.  Flat Rock’s well managed zoning laws create a stable environment in which quality new construction can peacefully co-exist with the treasure of the past.  It is our responsibility as residents to help protect and preserve this heritage, and it was our goal in creating Braewood to be a community that would set a new standard for the area.  As proposed, Braewood is a model of what quality development should look like for our region.  Our desire was to craft a set of guidelines that protect the aesthetic appeal of the community (both for Braewood and the entire Village of Flat Rock), and preserve our village’s strong sense of place as well as protect the investment of our residents homes for the future.

Please review these architectural guidelines and community standards.  Should you have any questions about Braewood’s architectural guidelines, please feel free to call or email us.
